Default Around the world?

At the risk of showing my ignorance ...

I know it's the WORLD Wide Web, but should global geography be taken into consideration with SEO? For example, if I have a primarily US company and a lot of my SEO work, links, etc., is with UK based sites, is it less effective?

That's a really great question. Not ignorant at all. Like with any advertising medium, your demographic has to take the cake. So if your biggest customer is from the UK, then your demographic is the UK. So, with that said, you should concentrate your efforts with who your customer is. In other words, if you are having a better presence with UK based customers, then you should concentrate your SEO efforts there.

I belive that if your site is US based, then you should target your SEO towards US based sites.

If you do the same SEO you do for UK sites on but on US sites, you'll receive the same results (was that your question?).
