well folks...put yourself in DMOZ's shoes....everybody and their brother is submitting sites. Yeah....they do or supposedly do have many editors...but I am sure even with a vast amount of folks editing submissions.....it's a very daunting and thanless task. I too have submitted sites that never show up..just as everyone else. I do have some that have been accepted as well. However, I would not lose any sleep or get your panties in a wad if you don't get accepted. It's not the end of the world nor is it the "god send of PR" as lots of folks like to think it is!

It takes as much as time as it takes. How about this for an answer??!!
Seriously, though, it depends on the category you submitted your links to. Some categories have a fast approval, others take forever. It depends on the editors.

I would say to forget about it. If you happened to be listed later on, good, else, move on.

Paying for submissions would defeat the point of Dmoz, though alot of people claim it is happening (eg http://www.corruptdmozeditor.com/). If you do try and bribe for inclusion watch out- there have been scams out there.
On a side note, about 50% of inclusions are chosen by the editors so you're site might be added without you having to submit it- if its well known.

Do they let you know if they decide not to list you?

It took my site less than a week to be listed in DMOZ. I applied for an editor position, and I still haven't heard back from them. Maybe those of you who have been waiting months to be included, maybe you should consider applying for a position as an editor...The process took me about 1 and 1/2 hours to complete. Although, I was completely honest in my application, you don't have to be.....

Submit to DMOZ and forget about it. My blog and my sites were added to DMOZ without my having submitted them. Which is a result. I submit to DMOZ though, I do it once, do it right, then forget about it.

Ok I will tell you something but never ask me more...
I can't speak about it...
1-Submit your site with accuracy choosing an appropriate category where submit your site
2-DON'T SUBMIT FOR THE SECOND TIME,YOU WILL BE LISTED OUT FROM THE WAITING SUBMISSION QUEUE
3-There is not only one editor, they are three reviewing a site.

Next information about how it works maybe in the future, but I'm not allowed to,for "some"guidelines...

Rome Tour there is nothing in the DMOZ edotrial guidelines that prevent you telling people whether or not you ae a DMOZ editor it is not the Freemasons you know

I disagree with what you are saying about getting listed out for submitting a second time. For Sure you will piss off the editor if he/she notices it, but I would not say that in general you get punished. As for the 'there are 2 reviewing a site' again I am not sure what you are saying here. The way the editing system works is that any editor can edit downline (the categories beloe the category they edit)

E.G. I am overall editor for the whole of the Uk in Skaffe, so I can add, edit delete etc ANY category that is below the main UK level. There are however other editors who edit categories below me some geographical, others topical. I can edit their cats but they can not cross edit ofther categories that are not downline from theirs.

So, far from there being only 3, any number of editors/meta editors can review and accept/reject a site.
