Well, currently one character domain registrations aren't allowed. Maybe your referring to three characters domains? Actually, at least one domain extension has a three character domain not registered on a popular extension such as .COM, .NET, .CO.UK or .BIZ. Those are popular extensions for small character domain names. If you keep the domain for approximately 10 years, you probably could sell it for a good thousand.

![]() | He's talking about single word domains, not single character. Like vodka.com, etc, they're not avaliable simply because they were all registered a long time ago. Most .com single dictionary word domains are worth a lot today. |

| Member | Yes, all seem to be correct but dont you think somebody should find a way to sort out this matter? There must be solution that the people can register their domain (no matter 1, 2 or any number of words in their domains). Lets run our winning horses to think in a direction for those poor people who have just started their businesses and dont get a single word domain names just because of those other companies have registered them to ask for more money in future! What are your opinions? What shall the people or government should do to release all those domains which have not been hosted for business purposes? |

![]() | People started to speculate in domains more than 10 years ago. As long as the 1 and 2 word domains don't break any copyright laws anyone can own them. And you can do with them whatever you want: park them, sell them or develop a website using the domain. Only in your fantasy will you be able to get your hands on a 1 or 2 word domain without paying for it. The governments shouldn't (and can't) do anything about this, except for country domains. What you want to happen can only happen in a fascistic country like china. The solution is to register 1 word domains in more obscure endings like .cc and .nu etc.

or to look for options in other TLDs, i don't really tjhink all the good domain names are unavailable, recently I found the thread on it, this was the OP's idea and he proved it by providing a list of relatively good domain names that were available. i also think a few hours of work with thesaurus may also bring fruitful results if you are looking for a domain name for a specific site. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, Remember that the Internet was originally designed for the Military, and then it was seen as a good resource for businesses, banks, etc. People didn't really start using the Internet until the late 80's early 90's, and domains were expensive then. But I just wish I was old enough then to understand the importance in buying domains, I would only buy one, and it would be www.internet.com . I would start some web phenomenon from that. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |
