Hi,

im wondering how can i get more traffic and improve my page rank with google?

ive already started exchanging links via the linkmarket website but this doesnt really drive traffic to the site...

whats the best and cheapest way of doing this?

atm the site really is focusing on australian business but i do have alink exchange partner on the home page where i exchange links with other websites.

please advice of the best and cheapest way

I think the cheapest way is the do it yourself. I think you should grab all the directory submission opportunities, and collect some extra backlink from forum sinatures. If you need real traffic I suggest you to buy some link on high traffic relevant sites. I know you that will have to pay for them, but I guess that the results will be proportional.

And try to avoid link exchange with irrelevant sites.

I have started my website directory in aug-2006. Today i am on the first page of google for high value keyword "website directory.Not only google yahoo and many more search engine shows my website directory on the first page.

In these last few months i have spend 00000$. for getting this position.

Your goal of improving ranking and then traffic should lead to a conclusion... converting the traffic to sales. I feel too many people rate success based on a PR number or traffic volume. If visitors drawn to your site don't find quality, most will be gone in 5 seconds.

Raju79 started a thread after replying here. He made page one without spending money. I did, too, and on a generic search with 155 million results. I posted more details there.

It takes time to improve your website's importance with the major search engines, but before making rank and traffic your goal, consider and define your expectations.

Do it yourself is the best way to go. Many SEO experts will promise what they cannot deliver without using deceptive practices that backfire in the long run. True experts are very expensive, and there are no instant results.

I have search engine advice on my blog and main site, plus a free PDF intro of how I made "Google Page One in Just 9 Months". My purpose was to prove my methods before offering advice to my small business clients for custom website design. Many wonder within 3 days of launch why they don't show up in search engines.

I stay busy and never worried about pagerank or traffic, so I did it to help others. I am not an SEO expert, and although my methods should help just about anyone, each site needs a custom plan and then action.

For your situation, it should be fairly easy to optimize your site and localize your keywords for the Australian market. Good luck.
