Ok, I have optimized my site, set my key words, I even have a page ranking of 1, but I am only averaging about 9 - 12 visit a day..

I get about 1 or 2 hits from search engines.
The rest from direct hits..

I have read every seo article and ebook to be found on the net.
What am I doing wrong?

Perhaps the keywords you're targeted are not very popular. What keywords are you targeting by the way?

Sometimes, patient is required and depending on your keywords also. For example, you might rank no.1 in of the search engine, but how many website are there in that search? This is 1 question. While some keywords are very popular and alot of people are typing this word to search for the desire thing, while some keyword aren't at all. For example, the word "napolic" there are only about 1k+ of result in google. and how many people are searching for this words? It is also depends.

I believe there are some website providing keywords and popularity of visitor looking for the keywords(amount per day searching for that keywords). And i am sure some of us webmaster have the link to the website except for me.

When selecting a keywords, you must also try study how many visitor looking for it, and how often its been search for 1 day. And thats, i hope it can help you out on your visitor per day issue.

Another way of bringing traffic, if thats what you looking for, try submitting to directorys, or buy links on a quality traffic website, which hopefully can get around 1% ~ 10% or more of visitor per day. First off optimization really never ends, there is always something to be done. You need to build links because a PR 1 is not the greatest. The links will be your key to better results. Good luck!

When you use various keywords for a search, what page does your site come up on. If you're not on page 1 - 5 you're not going to be getting many visitors to your site via that search engine.

I think that gaining high ranking is much easier than selecting the perfect keywords. Usually the tools show different results, so I suggest to rethink your keyword basket by using all of them.

You can have PR 6 and be on the page #10 for a big keyword or you can have PR0 and be on #1 position.

advertise your site more. and please have enough patience. ranking number one does not always mean that you can get a LOT of visitors.

You need to understand that optimization doesn't end with your site, you have to really promote your site a lot. If you are spending all of your time doing on site optimization, then you won't see results. Off site optimization is more important when it comes to bringing traffic to your site. Build lots and lots of links.

You need to exchange links with others. I don't think you should pay for traffic at this time. Just keep working on your site(s) and try to improve them EVERYDAY!
