I dont think people will pay much for a PR 3. Usually people look for PR 5 and the price wouldnt be that high, I mean like 7 or 10 $ perhaps? besides, manually placed links tend to be no good. Always the same kayword and never know when its taken off.

Pr3 links are not worth much at all, i would offer some free to start, whilst you work on improving your pr.
Or exchange links even, which will help your pr.

A link on an actual PR3 page would be worth a lot more than a link in a directory who's front page is a PR3. If the page doesn't have any PR yet, then try not to charge more than $1-$3 for a permanent link. On a PR3 page, a permanent link could run anywhere from $10 to $25 or more. But you must be committed to maintaining that link permanently.

yeah, i have a pr4 directory that costs $3 for links, but I usually try to do a long campaign of free submissions to get everything moving then when the slackers decide to submit, it costs them!

If inner pages are mostly PR0 or PR1 you should make your directory free now. After the free period and developing to PR4-PR5 you can sell links for 5-8$.

For a PR 3 directory, IMHO, you should price regular links at $3 only.

I think basing your pricing off PR alone isn't a good thing, and submitters who are simply looking at high PR when submitting maybe getting a raw deal. Why? PR is easily manipulated, you should be considering other factors when you are both pricing your listings and submitting to paid directories.

Yes PR is a selling factor, but would you pay a high price for a listing in a PR5-6 directory using a free template with little content and the directory just oozing "I'm here for a quick buck"?

The point I am trying to make is don't just price on PR, look at the time and effort you put into your directory, the advertising and marketing you do and will do in the future. All that adds up to better bang for the buck for website submitters.

It's very easy to tell if a directory is a serious one or not, and what you might think is overpriced is really undervalued.

I'm not looking at the PR or the price when I submit to a directory.Always looking for the quality of the backlinks, the quality of the linked websites.
If I see sitewide links to low quality websites i don't even submit my site even it is free.
It is hard to have a quality directory and the time untill it will be profitable is higher than two years.
I think a directory must be a resource of quality links and being a resource will be easier to be linked.
Most of directories today are not even cached on the page where I can submit my websites.
My advice, offer free submission only to a few quality established websites, quality matters, not quantity.
After that you can charge for your service not for passing PR.
