Best Forum Script

Hi, I want to know what's the best forum script, free and paid.

Some days ago I found a really interesting free forum script called bbpress, but I think it is good only for smaller communities. The main curiosity of this script is the ability to use the word press user table if they use the same database. In paid version I think no better than vbulletin.

My recommendations for forum scripts:

Free - phpBB: One of the best with great support communcity
Paid - vBulletin - I am using this on my Webmaster Discussion Forum for over 2 years. No issues. Quite fast with 1000s of customization options. It has probably the biggest Admin Control Panel.

Free ones choose between SMF ans Phbb

As far as free ones go, SMF is by far the very best.

Paid, then vBulletin is your best bet.

For free bulletin boards, phpBB. For paid bulletin boards, vBulletin. My favourite out of all bulletin boards is vBulletin, I plan to buy it after numerous demos, and recommendations from my colleagues.

SMF 1.0.8. is great, i use it! It looks just like Vbulletin!

Free : bbpress
Plus : Fast, Stable, secure, lightweight, easy to modify
Minus : doesnt have built in support for private msg, attached image, avatar, signature (but its still in beta so i dont know about it at later time) but there's plugin to do this

Free : Vanilla
almost like bbpress but has more built in support to various forum features

Paid : vBulletin
Plus : Fast, stable, secure
Minus : Must pay

Btw you can choose whatever forum scripts you want (free at first), but always pay attention to their track record especially security

and when you get a lot of community members (active) i suggest you to move to vBulletin

E-Blah Forum Software is one of the best free ones out there in my opinion and is what I use for my forums.
