Default "link Page" (PR0) vs. Homepage (PR5)

Hello Everybody,

Could you help with a question regarding Links?

A site I've approached has a PR 5 (homepage)

Cool now I have a much needed link to a PR5 site or do I?

The "links page" where the link is has a PR 0

What gives?

Side Question:

On a given web site can each page have a different PR?

Erik

Yes, it has different PR. You can link particular pages to get better PR. Links with PR0 are just plain links, not much strenght but it's always something

Links from a PR7 site on one of their PR0 new pages may be good in a few weeks or months, after that page has had time to 'migrate' into the Google ranking algorithm.

Most PR5 sites will have pages that are PR4 if they are immediately below the PR5 (one folder down... like http://www.pr5domain.com/pr4page.html)

However, if the page is never linked or indexed by Google for some reason, it may stay a PR0 or it may become a PR3 or even a 2.

Chances are that the lower down in the folders a page is, the lower its PR will ultimately be. That's why you should look for PR5 or 6 sites which put all their link pages just ONE folder down into their site structure.

That way, the PR-0 site page you end up getting displayed on may finally be a PR-4 page in a few weeks or so.

If you see the site with pages for their linked directories like this ...
http://www.directory.com/dept_one/su...link_page.html
Stay away from it. Don't waste your time.

No guarantees of course.
