![]() | I have me a blog I recently started www.pawpawspureproducts.com Starting to do real nice, but unfortunately I'm having a problem with spam. People are coming onto my site & not registering & leaving comments & a link to their website. Now I have the settings where you must register to comment or post. Apparently they're not registering somehow. Is there anyway I can find out their IP & block it from my site? What should I do? By the way it is a wordpress blog. TIA Dustin |

![]() | I had the same problem with a forum I am managing. I found a mod that gives me the option to unfreeze all posts before they become public. This way I can review everything before it goes public. 99% is spam See if you can find mods to install. Most of the comments are done by smart robots that go through the sign up process, so activating that does not help much. I also think banning IPs is not a good idea. Many come from IP pools that are randomly given to surfers when they come online and you could possibly ban people that are not spammers that way. |

![]() | I guess I am going to have to do what you had said. I currently have it set where if a comment contains more than 2 hyperlinks it is held for moderation. I'm just gonna have to make it hold all of them. It is coming from different IPs. Thanks |

![]() | Have a look at these two places. The second is a actual mod and sounds pretty promissing: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/96820 http://wordpress.org/support/topic/16642 Let me know if it worked for you. |

![]() | Thanks a lot everyone. I'm gonna take a look at it all later. Bagi I've seen that one used before, & is pretty simple for real users. I may just go with that one. |

Totally agree...also try the Bad Behavior plugin. You'll be good to go.

![]() | akismet was new to me until a few days ago, but i like what i see. banning ip's can keep you pretty busy. if you enabled a security feature, and it is being bypassed, you need to figure out why rather than just going on to a new method. . |

![]() | Webgeek thanks for posting that. I had heard something about bad behaviour plug-in before. So far though Askimet is doing the job. |

| Member | Before using Askimet, one of my blog, each day can at least have about 100+ spams. Now with Askimet, it has less spam and save my time of manually deleting it or doesn't whether it is the real spam or not. Regards, David Cheong.
