![]() ![]() | I submitted a site to DMOZ in late October 2006 and have been checking ever since to see if its listed, and nothing to date. Thre are 2 messages I note; 1 On the home page - "Editing is Back!! Login now for more information - Dec. 18, 2006" 2 After a search - "Search database last updated on: Fri Oct 13 10:21:04 EDT 2006" With the Google and Alexa directories feeding from DMOZ should we be concerned about the lack of activity on keeping the DMOZ database current. Is there too much reliance on this directory? Am I alone in thinking that DMOZ is overgrown and needs something better in in its place and is now a waste of effort? How many other webmasters ahave submitted sites to DMOZ with no movement?

![]() | I submitted a site 5 months ago no movement at all. I am thinking that the data got lost when they had their huge crash. Not even editors could log in anymore. I'm waiting a few more months and then am thinking to resubmit. |

![]() | It can take years to get listed in that directory.. I think something needs to be done with that directory to speed up the link approval process.. The Yahoo directory people need to jump on it and take care of it.. Google or whoever owns it is throwing sticks in the fire every few months and watching it burn to the ground..

![]() | It is aol owned from what I know and is being treated as a stepchild since it is not making them any money. The DMOZ concept needs to be revamped for sure. I have learned to add my sites and not care what they do. I add my listing to yahoo directory by paying yahoo for that and then just concentrate on links and content. |

![]() | Why is everyone pretending to be concerned over the well being of the directory when really it is your submissions that is the main focus. You are submitting to a free directory, Do they have to respond to your submissions and keep you updated? Do they have to list your sites in a certain time-frame if at all? If DMOZ wasn't an authorative site would you be concerned? The directory submission link is there to give editors an added resource to draw listings from and it is only one of many resources editors use to find quality content. Don't dwell on it, submit your site(s) and move on to bigger and better marketing.

![]() ![]() | They are alive. Barely. They have had some major problems recently and just restarted again. Apparently some moron had deleted some database of theirs. Plus they are ran by volunteers. They have started to accept editors again. All You have to do is sign up. |

I think the only way to improve ti is to hire people to do the job. Volunteer basis never worked for long. And it is very prone to abuse more than if You pay people.

If your submission was not listed prior to Descember 18 2006 then I would suggest you re-submit as all sites waiting for review were lost in the crash.
