![]() | Recently I have found that my website is being listed in directories that have nothing to do with my subject matter. ( I am a retail boutique.) I have seen it listed under, Nurses, Adult sex, Autoparts, Medical issues, ..etc. etc My question is how do I remove myself from being listed in these dirctories I certainly do not want to get a bad reputation on Google for just having traffic or bad neighbors as I have also noticed that these other directories are not even PR ranked. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There isn't any reason to not want to be on those directories. Search engines aren't going to think you are bad for having inbound links from "bad neighbors". If you remove the free links, you might experience a drop in search engine traffic. Why? Because what you consider bad neighborhoods are more than likely good honest web sites, and you will get some link juice from those sites. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, I have noticed this happening a lot too with my websites, but I really ain't bothered. You shouldn't be blacklisted by Google for being linked from somewhere - no matter where it is, it is generally the other way round. If you link to blacklisted websites, etc, Google is known for damning that persons website - but I think that is just a myth. Just watch the links pile up .Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

![]() | As the others have said you cannot control who links to you, so unlikely you would be penalized. Just let the links build up, they just won't be relevant and the traffic you may receive from them won't be targeted.
