Yup, this is the case now. I think sitemaps will eventually phase out robots.txt files. Haven't seen any changes yet though, its worth adding it to your robots.txt in any case.

| Re: MSN using sitemaps? MSN are very close to implementing it and have been testing it for a while, they do encourage to add you sitemap URL to your robots.txt for auto-discovery for when they do fully implement it... from what I gather. http://blogs.msdn.com/livesearch/arc...-sitemaps.aspx
