![]() | Hi, My site (www.raceformdata.com) has a pagerank of 0 but does have a few backlinks and has done for some time now. I was just wondering whether my site was being penalised for some reason or whether its pagerank will increase in the future after google update something.. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks! Simon |

![]() | Hi Simon I guess your site is too young, how old is it and how many backlinks do you have? Here are a few pointers to make your site more SE friendly. Why don't you use an <h1> tag for following text: "The free daily racing tips service" and enter the word "horse" between "daily" & "racing". Also add alt tags to any images. Your index side could also do with a bit more content. Hope that helps;-) Steve |

| Junior Member | Here are the prediction for www.raceformdata.com from the google Page Rank servers: Rank_1:1:2 Rank_1:1:4 Rank_1:1:4 Rank_1:1:3 Rank_1:1:4 Thsi means that for sure you'll have PR at the next update - the questions is what will this PR be. Afer the Iwebtool formula you'll have a PR of 3. PR sounds good for a new site - you can do better ofcourse ![]() |

![]() | Thanks for the feedback! This is my first site so I didn't really know if I was doing something stupid Yes the site is quite new, I registered the domain and got it hosted back in July last year but I didn't really put any content onto it until October which I think was when I submitted it to google. I have started building up some links so I guess I just need to be patient and wait for an update now..Thanks again.. Simon |

![]() | Hi again Simon I see you've added the word horse, the other two points I mentioned are really important from the SE spider's point of view. The first thing the spider will see on your site is the logo, it won't be able to make sense of it though without an alt tag. The next thing it will see is: "The free daily horse racing tips service", but with no added significance hence the neccesity to add an h1 tag. Steve |

![]() | Hi Steve, Thanks for the tips - I've hopefully solved the h1 tag problem - I wanted to keep the text the same size so I reduced the size of the h1 font - is this okay? Can I use alt tags? I thought that these were only for images.. The banner isn't an image, just a text link back to the main page: <div id="banner"><a href="/">raceformdata.com</a></div> Anyway, thanks for the advice! ![]() | Hi Simon Adjusting the size of the h1 tag is okay, the only thing to remember with h1, is to place it as far up the left hand side of the page as possible (preferably top left) and not to have more than one per page. Re the alt tag, sorry about that, I thought it was an image. Steve |
