Default Which do you prefer: Blogs or Forums?

Though forums and blogs are completely different vehicle for publishing, they both offer interactivity but forum obviously offers far greater interactivity than blogs.
When blogs first appeared on the scene a few year ago, some claims it will eventually overtake forums hence forums days are numbered. The success of forum like this show that was a completely wrong prediction.

Now that blogs are some what "mature" and an established medium, if you are to compare or choose between forum and blogs to deliver your message, which will be your preference?

Forums for me too

It`s the thing with interacting with other people in a more "active" way. Also forums are good resources - news , directories , new sites , new people

I don't usually like questions, but I really like this one.

I love forums for the interaction that's possible. But, let's look at it this way(speaking of vehicles). If you are going to go to Hawaii, what the best way to get there? By plane of course. If you are going to the grocery store, then obviously either walking or driving would work best. I see forums and blogs in a similar light. One "vehicle" is used quite productively in one manner, where it is completely useless in the other. And vice versa.

In other words, you wouldn't try to drive to Hawaii(no matter where you are from), and you would never consider flying to the supermarket.

I view forums like an airplane, they take you far pretty fast, and I see blogs as vehicles, they take you further cheaper. In other words, each has it's use amongst internet users, and each is useless for certain uses. That's why so many forum owners also have blogs. It's 2 completely different ways of communication. One is an active way of communication, the other is inactive. One offers companionship, the other sincerity. If you need to ask which is which, then perhaps you need to read more blogs and join more communities.

For me, I find a great deal of information from blogs(Matt Cutts, v7n blog) On the other hand, if I need some particular piece of information, the best place to get it is by asking around in forums.

Yeah of course I vote on forums This was the first webmester community where I signed up. That time I could hardly named webmester Due to this community I learned a lot.

Usually every blog has an owner, and she/he control the dialogue. At forums everybody have the ability to control the communication.

I agree 100% with jumpen.

But forums are still ahead, I'll use both, but I like the interactivity of the forums, since everyone contributes, not only the owner.

Hi there,

It would have to be forums for me, I find them a lot more interactive and you can meet a lot of useful contacts, and make a few friends.

I personally hate blogs, I never read them, they just haven't penetrated me yet, maybe soon once every one is doing it. But for now, forums!

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

With regard to getting your message "out there", comparing blogs and forums is like an old case of apples-and-oranges. Each medium has its own pros and cons; it would really depend on a lot of factors (e.g. your purpose, target audience, what do you hope to achieve, etc.)

I like forums better than I do blogs. You get to interact with other people more and better on forums then you do on blogs. I can never keep a blog going, but I can stay very active on forums.

More interaction on forums maybe, but is it better interaction?

You get to know people who comment on your blogs a lot more than a username on a forum as there are substantially less readers.

I prefer neither, both are equal in my eyes. Both have their pros and their cons.

Im speaking from personal experience and what I have encountered on both forums and blogs, forums wins the battle over blogs in my book.

Everyone has their own view on things, I just prefer forums over blogs.
