Default rel="nofollow"

Does anyone other then google support this attribute with there crawlers?

Seems the idea of it's use was agreed a long time ago, but have yahoo or msn since adopted it's use?

I'm pretty sure Yahoo recognizes it's use, but I'm not sure about MSN.

I have heard just the opposite that actually Yahoo is not actually recognizing the nofollow tag.

I see some backlings from blogs use Word Press -which put nofollow to the outgoing links- at Yahoo site explorer.

They'll list them but are those backlinks passing link juice? That's the question.

Nofollow should be telling the spider not to follow the link right?

It's actually not telling it not to follow the link, just not to pass link juice. It's misnamed. I always say it should have been called NoPR or something like that.

That's how they're supposed to function...The question is how well Yahoo and MSN implement this.

If Google sees nofollow as part of a link, it will:

1. NOT follow through to that page.
2. NOT count the link in calculating PageRank link popularity scores.
3. NOT count the anchor text in determining what terms the page being linked linked to is relevant for.

Reciprocal link partners will use that tag as a means to show a "good-faith"
agreement. You place the partner's link on your page w/nofollow, they put
your link on their site, then the nofollow's come off!

Well, I cant agree. It is nice if you are linking to a source which you are not sure about. It is a good solution for blog and forum spamming!

I've been noticing several links listed by Google that have the no-follow added to them. I wonder if Google is even paying attention to them, or if they just say that they are.
