Most e-commerce sites use simple white backgrounds. Not very "flashy" but good in giving trust and professional looks.

I agree. I'm partial to white backgrounds for commercial sites myself. Truth be told, customers do "judge books by their cover," and if I were a customer, I would think twice before I put my money on sites that don't look professional.
