O.k., I've been reading a lot about free hosts here and I thought I should submit my 2 cents. I used to run free host businesses, yes I used to be a free host provider. Truth being I thought I could make some money by putting ads on the top pages of every members webpage. So I basically crammed a whole bunch of sites on one crappy little server that I rented for $25/month. Let it be known I was following the advice/directions of 2 other free host providers that I was conversing with at the time. There were SO many problems that I just couldnt even be bothered anymore. The truth is free host providers usually have a personal agenda, why else would they be doing it? And remember, its free. You're not going to get the best service or support, if any for that matter. So if you're hosting a crummy little personal webpage, then ok its for you, however, if its important to you in ANY way, DO NOT go with a "free hosting provider". If its too good to be true it usually is folks. I know this to be true. Go with a host that's been around at least a couple years, and has a GOOD reputation! Otherwise, your site will be flushed down the toilet in no time!

Ok point taken about how crappy YOU were at this.
Yes alot of free providers are crap.
BUT there are some who are ok,and some who are very good.
There are also paid providers who are crap,but we dont say all paid providers are crap.
Thets be very carefull about putting them all in the same bag.
I dont often provide free hosting but sometimes when the need arises, amongst other things it can prove cheap advertising on the sites provided with free advertising.
So if there is a company you can name who is poor then name them.
Otherwise do the research on the provider first.
Dont kill the legitimate companies.
The legitimate free provders make money somewhere along the line(stupid if they dont!)

Dont get me wrong caution must be taken in this area, but as with anything there are good guys and bad guys.

On mine you correctly also do ) It is necessary steer clear from free hostings. Anybody nothing will give you for free,and if offer free,that from them it is not necessary to wait 100% services

I think free hosting is not reliable. It's only for fun or just for using something that is not very serious.

You can learn it the hard way, but I believe that nothing in this world is free. Heck, even those who give to charity get something in return (e.g. peace of mind, better perception about themselves, etc. ) I wouldn't use free hosts even for personal sites. Anything I invest my time and energy on isn't worth being put on risk.

One of my sites is with the free host (110MB.com) It did not start out too good. I joined at the time they were transferring from one server to another. So uptime on the beginning were pretty bad, But now they are running better than my paid host. And they do not force ads on their subscribers. So not every free host is shitty. But it is true that going with the free host is a big risk as they tend to simply shut down and disappear. But so do some of the paid hosts.
