Default Linkslinky Web 2.0

Could you go and take a look at the home page at my Link Slinky Directory and let me know what you think of the design and layout? Thank you, I appreciate it.

It looks very good! All the images are great.
What I would suggest is

1) Remove the text a little further from the images
2) Center the text beside the images
3) Give each image a half inch gap between each other so it dont look like there stacked
It looks like your off to a great start. Keep up the good work.
I really like the mouse over effects on your other pages.

Thanks B....I did number 1 and 2 from your suggestions....It made a big improvement. I put a space between the images of 25px, but it pushed the categories off of the page a bit, and I want all of the categories to be visible, so I changed that one back. Thanks for the suggestions.

Check out the SLink viewport with sites listed in it-Directory example

I still have to redesign the directory pages to be more modern looking like the index page, but you can get a feel of what the directory will be once I get it all done.

First I'm going to get it off the ground. The next step will be to build a link building market, similar to the link building market here at iwebtool, with a few changes, including a record keeping script that will track the links that you have purchased, and for how long you purchased the link for, so you can periodically check to verify that your links are still listed.

There will be a member area where once signed in, you will have access to a huge list of searchable directories that once you submit your site to, you can tick it off as being completed. That way you don't have to worry about submitting to a directory more than once. Also, it gives you a list of all the directories that you have submitted to, so you can periodically check your listings on those directories to verify they still exist, or that they have been included.

Paid directory submissions will include a viewable record of all of the promotion for LinkSlinky. You can view where I've placed links to improve the directory, and how much time and money I spend, and where I spend it at, along with other promotion and branding efforts.

I have other long term plans that I should be able to accomplish by the end of May.

One constructive critasism(ooh bad spelling!)
I take it the bar at the top is a search bar?
I would title it as such,
Otherwise a pleasant change from the norm

Yes, it's a search bar. I wanted to go for a web 2.0 look, but I'm not sure how well it turned out. Can you tell it's a search bar when you first look at it? That's an important feature of the site, because not only do I want to market the site for website owners, I also want to target surfers.

The search bar needs to be labled as such.(in my opinion)
Its not clear at first that this is what it is.

I think the site is excellent, if the jagged edges of the graphics can be smoothened it will be even better.

I agree Temi, once it starts bringing in money, I'm going to have the entire site cleaned up by a professional graphic designer. Thanks Midlandi, I think I agree with you, I am going to make it clearer that it's a search bar.

I always enjoy going to sites that are built for scratch such as this one.

Most webmasters use already made templates and just edited them to fit their needs.

Keep up the good work and keep us updated.

Nice, I see you have 2 bars too. Thanks B., I have high hopes for this site. Hopefully it'll keep me busy enough to call it a part time job.

I changed the search bar so now it's a bit more obvious that it's a search bar. I also added a new logo to the banner. It's very colorful, and black, and shiny. What do you think now?

I like the design. The logo looks good but I think there is too much space in the mirror effect. maybe shorten the bottom of the y to bring them closer.

The glassy look of the buttons is nice. would look really good to make it look like the buttons are on a plastic/glassy panel or something rather than look like the are just pasted into the center of page.

hope you dont mind but just did a quick example. will delete from post if you like.

Woops didnt mean to leave the ball part of the logo up so high. Just example for you anyhow

No, I don't mind at all. I see what you mean with the banner. There is a bit much space in between the reflection and the words. I'm trying to figure out a way I can do it without the "y" over lapping itself. I wonder how it would look with the "y" raised up so the bottom of it is flush with the bottom of the k?

I like the idea of having the background glossy like the buttons are.
