Default Figure this out

I get about an average of 2 to 5 member sign ups a day at www.talkpitbulls.com

The board is pretty much dead.

Why do people come to the board and then sign up and right afterwards burn out?
They never come back!!!!!!!! At first i was thinking it must be spam but the user names are always Pit Bull related. Why would someone waste there time and sign up and never become active? I don't understand it!

Does anyone else with a board have the same problem?

I do to. I don't have that many sign ups. But out of the 160 members at my Lost Forum, there are only about 6 or 7 active members. About half of the 160 members haven't made so much as a single post. I don't know why though.

Hehe, one of your top ten posters has 9 posts , sorry, I find that funny. I suggest to both of you to maybe create a reputation contest. When somebody makes a good post, you give them reputation, so get users interactive to each other by crediting each other. Whoever has the biggest rep wins a (prize here).

"reputation contest" I have tried that and a lot of other different tactics.

It just dont work as well as you think it may. I guess There either going to make posts or there not.

Well, it's still a newer forum, and the show is in hiatus, so in 2 weeks I'm hoping for it to pick up considerably. Up until about 2 weeks ago, All but 2 of the members had less than 10 posts. I thought about giving out season 1 and 2 dvd's, but I want some more interest before I make a competition that costly.

People usually like to join forums that are already well-populated. What many forum masters do is pay posters during the first month or so to generate involvement and entice real members to stay.

I've done that on other forums. It's an alright way to do it, and it's tempting, but, the problem is that most forum posters, no matter how much you pay them, make unnatural sounding posts. With a forum dedicated to die hard fans of any kind, especially Lost fans, a fake would be spotted a mile away. So I've opted out of fake forum posts in favor of gaining exposure in another way. We've had quite a few sign ups since the show came back on 6 days ago, plus nearly 2000 hits from a search engine in the same time. So it's a matter of time before it takes off.

Sorry I hi-jacked your thread B., you can delete me if you want....
