Do they mean welcoming new users over and over, or just posting in that welcome board too much?

How odd.

LOL, there have been times when I wanted to scream because someone(no names from me either) loaded up our forum by saying hi to everyone that signed up the previous month. It happens pretty often, but there really isn't anything wrong with it, other than it is quite a disruptive practice. I'm not surprised there are forums with that rule in place.

Yea, it's called something...I think "post whoring". It is when people say "Welcome to the Forums, hope to see you around (insert username here)!" in every single thread opened for welcomes.

Hi there,

I agree with the rule, I have seen how annoying this can get. I don't know if you have noticed, but I haven't posted in the introductory forum in AGES!

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

Maybe i misunderstood the reason for the intros then? I will heed this advise.
I can understand if people abuse it, but i have to say if you join a new forum, to have a nice number of welcome replys is nice.

Default Re: Warning Dont Say Hello!!!!

It does get old when other members start welcoming other members. It's not the the point where I would make it a rule not to welcome members though.

Squashy is on a distinguished road
Default Re: Warning Dont Say Hello!!!!

I guess some members do the hi-hello thing just for the sake of increasing post count. Good idea to make posts in the Welcome Folder not count in one's stats.

Or perhaps the mods can impose a minimum-words-in-post rule so one-word responses would automatically be considered spam?
