![]() ![]() ![]() | Since upgrading IE6 to IE7 the text has all been a blur. It's something about IE trying to enhance the text I believe. How can I turn this off?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | IE7 uses a new text rendering tool called ClearType. To disable it, go into your internet options dialog, click on the advanced tab, scroll down to the multimedia section and uncheck the "Use ClearType" checkbox. Or, an even better solution is to ditch IE completely and download Firefox 2.0.... ![]() |

| Junior Guru | jumpen solved it in both manners. If you don't want to experience these kind of stupid problems with IE, you should download Firefox or Flock. Flock is Firefox, but with a couple more features and a "prettier" skin. Either way, Firefox or Flock is the way to go. HTMLGuy

Top man Thanks. I do you Firefox, but it's good to use IE for testing and make use of some of it's add-on's.

| Senior Member | Get used to it because ClearType is Vista default on all applications (even Firefox). You could turn it off, but with the sleek look of Vista and just the general feel of it, it's UGLY. The ClearType on Vista is more refined so the text is more readable yet not jagged. Just FYI I mean, considering that most people will be upgrading again in a couple years.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The ClearType that's included with IE7 is intended for computers with LCD screens, I'm hoping that with Vista that the ClearType will be enhanced for standard RGB monitors as well. It doesn't look bad on my RGB monitor, so it won't effect me much, but from what I've seen is there are quite a few people that do have issues with it, namely the blurring. But, at least it can be disabled pretty simply. |
