Default Best strategy

I wonder what the best strategy is for securing your online presence in a particular industry website wise.

Is it better to create one gigantic site or a few mini sites and use each mini site to target a particular keyword within that industry.

I dont think there is a right or wrong answer to that.
I suspect the product or service your are offering would have a bearing on the choice.
It would certainly be easier and more cost effective to have one main portal to market than a number of small sites.
Of course if you want to appear as seperate companies then choosing the nsmaller sites option would be best.
You also have to decide what visitor your trying to attract and what you beleive their prefences would be.
For example a recent servey i saw suggested the over 40's tend to ignore the "small" sites alltogether and are only drawn to "large" corporate looking sites(apparently this gives them the feeling of security)wheras you and i know anyone can build an impressive site and still be a rouge!

It depends on how competitive your keywords are, but more sites you have, the more work you will have to do. My opinion is to work on establishing 1 site, then starting another one.

I'd have to say that one big site is better. It's easier to brand one site and create a success than it is to brand 10 sites and make them all successful. If you have 10 sites, and one person is interested in all that the 10 sites offer, it'll be a bit of a headache for that person to visit all 10 sites, better yet, find them in the first place. Yes, definitely 1 site.
