![]() | Is it just me, or has IE7 just stolen a load of it's new features from Firefox? I'd use Firefox over IE7 any day. There's just so many of those annoying pop-ups I can take!

![]() ![]() ![]() | I've used Firefox for a year or so. Does IE have anything better now? I mean IE6 is so poor by comparison, but maybe IE7 has something to look at? If so what? I don't know of any reason to use IE as a first choice, perhaps you know otherwise?

Is IE7 a really big upgrade on IE6? Fast screen display now? Very secure now? Hassle free auto-updates? Decent pop-up blocker? Tonnes of excellent free add-ons?I'd be surprised if IE7 has that yet.

| Junior Guru | You can't beat Firefox. Sorry, but IE will never be able to come anywhere close in comparison. HTMLGuy

No they have not STOLEN them, they have used some of their ideas and implemented it into their browser, like most software companies do to each other. Quote:
I never said IE7 in particular I generally like IE better. Fast screen display? Yes always has done! Secure? Yes very thanks, I usually installed the Norton Suite, so incredibly secure. Hassle-free? Always has been hassle free. Decent pop-up blocker? Yes, Norton Suite and Windows Defender takes care of that. Tonnes of excellent add-ons? No, I wouldn't use them anyway, the only add-on I use is Google Toolbar. I like my browsers to be browsers, not anything else. When people get viruses/malware/spyware etc, it is their fault, check files and e-mail before opening them, it is common sense. Also when people's computer break, it is funny how many people blame Windows, I blame them, they don't know how to use a computer properly or look after it. They always deny it, but how come I NEVER have problems with my computers??? Regards, Kieran Taylor.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Fifefox. To be honest, IE is definitely a security risk. I'm with Kieran, I never get any problems, but I also don't run any anti virus software, instead I don't use IE. I don't get spyware, adware, or viruses for 2 reasons. Firstly, I use Firefox, and secondly, I don't go to many places that give those type of problems out. Without running IE, the few times I do stumble upon a spyware giving site, they typically require active x controls to install themselves on my computer, and Firefox doesn't give that option. |

![]() | Firefox, hands down. I'm using IE7 emu for some testing, and while it seems much improved it still isn't cutting it for me!

Sorry, but it would be the other way round if FireFox was as popular as IE, it is a matter of popularity. Like Windows, it is more popular than all other OS's put together, so a hacker/programmer would have more luck making a virus for Windows, rather than Mac which covers 2% market share of all OS's worldwide. I agree, if Firefox had a 50% share of the market, then it would have more issues, but, considering that FF doesn't support activex controls, it still wouldn't have even a fraction that IE has. By allowing someone to remotely run software on your computer, it's security issues become inherent. And about OS's, there is a reason (actually several) that MS systems aren't as abundant in the internet world as are Unix based systems. Stability and security are the main reasons. In the internet world, IE is still king, but it won't be for long....for several reasons. Their lack of support for standardized web browsers and their support for programs that allow remote access to home computers. As long as Firefox is around, and as long as it is promoted as heavily as it is now, then it won't take but maybe another year before it see's a 50% share of the browser market. The biggest problem that I see with MS is that they don't pay attention to the needs of their customers, instead they try incredibly hard to maintain a proprietary line of products so that they can somehow stay in control of the market. That's why I use FF, even if I didn't have any troubles with IE, MS doesn't seem to care what I think, therefore I don't care for their products. I am a continued supporter of FF because they listen to my needs by offering a product that is standardized and secure. ![]()
