![]() | Free Software Downloads There is plenty of free download software available on the web offering something for everyone from Web Masters to Desktop Publishers. However, the user should take special care on what to download. It is highly recommended to have some anti-virus software and a good firewall before downloading any software from an unknown source. There may be bugs in the software and it could lock your system and you may lose data or even corrupt your hard disk. This is not to say that there is not some great Free software available on the Internet. You can always find something useful to help build or promote your website business. Example: http://www.htmlvalidator.com http://www.download.com http://www.sandanco.com/free-downloads.html Remember that most free software is not really free. This type of free software is what we call "teaser tools". It is a marketing technique used in many businesses. For example, the user can download the software but it will have only limited functions turned. The hope is the user will like the free software and would be willing to buy the full version. Of course the full version is not free. This is great way for both the software distributor and the end user to try out the software before he or she commits to buy it. More and more companies are now providing this service to allow the user to test their software on a trial basis. It is a good idea to check the reviews for the software you are interested in buying either in publications or on the Internet before you make your final decision. Read the bug report and find out what the latest updates are in the software.
