![]() | hi there, add it your site to directories and other sites, those are backlinks and they will increase your PR. The greater the PR of the site your adding your site to, the faster you will build your own.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You can do link exchange requests too, but I never do them because then you wind up losing link weight. The best thing to do is find sites and blogs that have the same type of content that you offer and send them emails requesting a link on their site. About 30% of the time they usually add my link, about 50% of the time they request a reciprocal link, and the rest of the time they either say no or they don't respond. Also, you can submit to thousands upon thousands of directories, relentlessly. The trick here is to gain as many free links as you can in as little time as possible. I have submission software that allows me to submit to 547 directories in about 4 or 5 hours. It cost me $50.00 for the software, and I can use it on as many sites as I need. You could buy the software, considering you have several sites that you need to promote, and it would be a value to your SEO efforts. The software also allows you to add your own list of directories to submit to, it is an invaluable tool. There are also submission services that will submit your sites to directories for a fee. Before you use a submission site be sure that they are going to submit to higher PR sites, and that they are willing to use your email address so that you can verify the submissions. That's just a quick rundown of some of the more common link building techniques, there are plenty of other ways that you can build links. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, Look for websites with a higher PageRank than 3, to increase your own quicker. Also, go on website which don't have too many links on that specific page. The less links - the more credit you gain for that link. Also, exchange links with websites with similar content to yours, 2 way, 3 way, etc. This builds a nice structure which Google seems to like. Submit to strong directories, and use the same set of keywords, this helps raise your keywords for your website in the SERP's. PR is nice to have but don't take it too seriously, it is like icing on the cake if you get what I mean .Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

![]() ![]() | Hi, UKSharon, I followed your profile link to get your URL and then tested the PR ranking at URLTrends.com and your site rank may not be PR3 according to their report at this link: http://www.urltrends.com/viewtrend.p...w.fumbug.co.uk There are basic design requirements for favorable ranking, and you could improve your chances with some minor work. Here are 8 elements that may need review: 1. DOCTYPE Statement 2. Page Title 3. Proper HTML Code 4. META Description 5. META Key Words 6. First Paragraph of the Home Page 7. An Extra Page of Just LINKS 8. Backlinks to your site As one example (#2 above), your complete http domain is the "title" on your home page which loses value with search engines. For the <title> tag you should go for key words about what you do (what someone might put in a search box looking for your product or service) rather than your www domain or company name. Most SE's give significant value to your page title in deciding how to index your site. The others could use varying degrees of improvement, also. You can get details at W3C.org on items 1-5. Let us know if you have questions about any of the others. Cheers, Jim |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That's great information jdegerstrom. I don't believe she is talking about that site. That site (fumbug.co.uk) is still under developement. It's still a new site, so the PR is still 0. And the functionality of the site isn't yet complete. That was an incredible website review though. I'd add rep, but I already repped you once and it won't let me give rep out too often. |

![]() ![]() | Hi, All, Okay, my wife took away my plastic detective badge for assuming I discovered the correct URL for UKSharon. My bad. Thanks for the rep votes, though. Let's answer your general question. Backlinks (# 8 on my list) are like "votes" for your site, and so each one that Google finds adds value to your ranking. I've always considered my site PR irrelevant because I'm very busy from customer referrals for ongoing work doing web design and matching artwork for print. PR is overrated as a measure of the success of your site, yet backlinks can drive new traffic (and business) to your site. Less than a year ago I changed my mind about backlinks and decided to study SEO basics and run some experiments because my clients wanted advice on promoting their sites. Besides web directories which can be time consuming, last May I began writing advice articles for small business owners for publication in article directories. The results were amazing. In May 2006 there were perhaps 150 backlinks to my site which was okay by me. After writing an article a week, the number grew in geometric proportions so that if you do a search on "jim degerstrom" (no quote marks) there are over 10,000 links to my site. Visit this link http://www.buildyourownbusiness.biz/...les-Faster.php to read an article I wrote about writing articles that may help you get started. Writing advice from a neutral point of view might be just the push you need for your website. You may not feel comfortable writing at first, but the key is to write in everyday conversational style, not like you're writing a technical manual. Finally, I arrived in this forum after purchasing the iWebtool SEO Checklist which provides valuable advice, some of which I have yet to apply. I highly recommend this investment and then continue asking questions in forums like this to get a variety of opinions. Cheers, Jim Last edited 01-08-2007 at 07:00 AM. ![]() | Hi, To get high page rank best thing is to get one way backlinks to your site. Article submission, directory submission Ezinearticles.com allows you to place up to two links in your bio along with your article. Submit you article also to articlemarketer.com free service. Write more than one article. Directories that require reciprocal links are not useful submit to free ones only. If you make link exchanges be sure that your link partners are still linking to you, if not remove their links. Don't place outbound links or links to other people sites if they don't link back to you. Karl

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That looks a bit spammy. You can replace your URL after you have made 10 posts to the forums and have shown that you are a participant in our forum and not spamming your ads. |
