![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Found this on another forum, thought it might prove for some good discussion. "All you really need is a well designed functional site with a good shopping cart, accurate articles and descriptions of your products and services on the site and a good niche product that is sold at an affordable price. One way that both Yahoo and Google have been weeding out those who try to take SEO shortcuts from those who are serious about their business is to ask for manual submission to their programs. Yahoo is famous for their manual submission program, which not only costs you, but also offers no refund if they decide to reject your site. Google Sitemaps has a similar submission process in which an XML type feed can be created and submitted. Do you need to go to all this trouble to get listed in the search engines. Generally if your site is good and not an obvious ploy to fool the spider engines or fool people all it takes is a simple link from a site that has already been indexed to improve the page rankings of your web site. In order to do this though you need to convince a big business to be impressed with your site, which is why, SEO nowadays is also about how to improve the functionality and look of your site so it is appealing to others." |

![]() ![]() | Thanks for the excellent information. Unique quality content designed for readers is the best way to get noticed by both types of visitors, buyers and search engines. Ploys to improve PR and SERP results by overloading a page with SEO tactics will backfire. Taken to the extreme, your page becomes nonsensical to visitors, so even if you get by the SE's and they drive traffic to your site, it does no good if visitors leave immediately. Posting articles or other information authored by others is an acceptable method for adding fresh content. If material is "unique with quality" and original, you achieve an additonal edge in ranking. Borrowing content without due credit to the author and claiming it as original will be caught by the search engines, and perhaps the author. Some of my articles have been republished without the required "About the Author" resource box credit, so some people have claimed my advice as original. Other articles have been translated in 5 or more foreign languages, so I haven't taken the time to pursue violations and just let it go for now. The adage "Content is king" should be revised to "Original and unique quality content is king". Cheers, Jim
