Default Cant view sites?

Ok has anyone any ideas here.

When i go to view a site, wether i use ie or firefox, i get site not found screen.
If i go through a proxy server all is ok?
It came to light when i was working on a site for a customer and it "dissapeared"

Ive tried resetting all connections but nothing works.....any ideas?

Default Re: Cant view sites?

Try checking your host files. They may be messed up.

Location of hosts file:
Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts
Windows NT/2000/XP Pro c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows XP Home c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

You can open them up using a simple notepad editor. You should have something like this by default:

Quote:
127.0.0.1 localhost
