Cool Now Using: Windows Vista

Just installed Windows Vista today - it's pretty sweet.

I'm not normally a fan of Microsoft products, but I figure I'll take anything better than XP. And XP is ugly, so I'm not afraid to move into Vista - Ultimate.

It's actually really slick looking/running - a processor over 2 GHz would work well though... I have a 1.8 GHz Celeron processor with 512 MB RAM... Aero, though, is gorgeous. I'll give Microsoft some credit for that.

Regardless, as soon as I can - it's Mac time.

How is your computer running? Is it running better compared to XP or a bit/plenty more sluggish?

So far, I'd rate it 8/10 considering it's a Microsoft product. XP was a pain in the rear, but Vista is actually pretty dang quick! It takes full advantage of all the hardware your PC has, unlike XP. In fact, it booted up straight into my login screen, and shuts down just by fading out the main desktop and about 10 seconds later: done.

You'll need some sort of graphics card, but otherwise, it's slick.

XP was slow and clumsy. I am pretty impressed so far with Vista, I must say. It's been stable and halfway reliable

How are the applications running? Quick speed or sluggish? What happens if you run 7-10 applications together?

From what I've heard, Vista Ultimate upon final, non-business-owner-only-release may range up to $350 or $400.... the basic Home/Pro versions might be only $100 or $200 though.

They run fairly smoothly... a true Vista-capable PC would run them smoother, though. 7-10 apps together? Never tried it But I would assume just as sluggish as XP with 7-10 apps open.

A true vista system better run multiple programs smoothly! '~__^ Have you seen the minimum requirements for this OS? If it manages to bog those specs down, Vista's hopeless *___*

Hi there,

I love Vista, the features that are good on it, are endless. The security is great, and you can set the OS to run for certain age groups, it will stop a child (if you set it) to deny them the ability to run DVD and Games that are not suited for their age range.

You also get Microsoft's security suite built in free of charge, including their brilliant Windows Defender. What more can you ask for.

Once it is released to the public in the U.K. I am buying a new computer and Windows Vista .

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

Windows Vista is a great thing. I would want a Mac also if they weren't so much money. I just bought an 22" HD Monitor that has the same performance and display as an Apple 22" HD...yet the Apple is like 3x the price. Stupid, really, the only difference is that it is white and has a small Apple on it. It's like buying a Target Shirt and a Lacoste Shirt. Similar quality, huge price difference. That is why I dislike Apple.
