![]() | I'm sure anyone who uses Google's AdWords has noticed when you submit a new group of keywords, you'll find many of them are disabled a day or two later. There will be a note in red in the disabled keywords saying something like: "You need to increase the bid to x dollars in order to reactivate this keyword". I've never given this much thought until lately, thinking that Google was just wanting to improve the quality of the listings you submit... Earlier in December, I submitted approximately 50 new keywords and when I logged in a day later, I noticed 48 of these keywords were disabled. Of the 48 that were disabled, 45 of them said that I needed to increase the bid to $5.00 in order to reactivate them. I searched for many of these keywords at Google and saw that many of them had only 1 or 2 sites listed in the Adwords results. I thought it would be safe to bid $5.00 as generally when you only have 2 or 3 competitors in the field I am in the bids will usually never top 30 or 40 cents. I logged in about one week later and noticed that many of these new keywords were costing about $4.80 to $4.90 per click and I had a huge bill adding up quickly. My first thought was the competitors were doing this, but after checking the keywords I noticed that we had different competitors on many of the keywords. What a coincidence that everyone was bidding that high... I was beginning to get suspicious that Google was doing the same thing to our competitors, telling them they needed to bid nearly $5.00 to activate the keywords. That is the only thing that made sense to me why all the bids were costing so much. I reguested for Google to send me a log of who has been clicking our ads. They denied my request. I suspect they are hiding something. This is their response: Hello xxxxx, Thank you for your email. I understand that you would like to know who is clicking on your ads. We are not able to release any information on the users that are clicking on your ads. However, if you have access to your site's web logs, they will often contain information on the IP addresses of the users that are clicking on your ads. You can obtain this information from your webmaster. ![]() | There might be a hidden reason behind this... Were you submitting your adwords to be shown on sites (CONTENT NETWORK) , or only on google search. That might help you with your quest for the truth!

| Junior Member | Thats good to know, we get the same problem every now and again. I think it has more to do with your competitors bids but it may be google. After all, it is thier service to sell. |
