 |  Newsgroup backlinks a good thing for ranking? Hi, my site is just 3 months old, doing OK in MSN but poor on Google. In the early days, before I had read up on SEO, I thought the occasional post (no more than 10) to relevant newsgroups would be useful in promoting my site. I'm now wondering if Google could be penalising me for backlinks that they might consider as spam? |

| Re: Newsgroup backlinks a good thing for ranking? Well, my backlink check shows 10 newsgroup backlinks, so it looks like they are getting picked up - one of them is even ranked 3 by google! The rest are 0, but I still wonder if newsgroup backlinks are otherwise 'bad' links. |
