Uh... I know this is a caveman thing to do, but I'm used to just using notepad...

If I'm on a deadline then I resort to any type of editor with line numberings like JCreator, EditPlus, Dreamweaver, etc.

I hardly use any feature of any text editor than two: Syntax highlighting and auto-indent. Sometimes, the line numberings a good tool too. This is all that a good editor requires. The day notepad comes with it, I'll use notepad.

With linux, I am a dedicated user of Kate.

Kate all the way.
if I'm troubleshooting or testing in Windows I use PFE. No syntax highlighting but auto index and line numbering are there.
