I think the obvious answer to that question is inhouse, I don't know why anyone would want someone other than their hosting company dealing with their support needs.

It doesn't matter, as long as tech support is able to accommodate. We use intermedia.net for private label exchange hosting, which is going well. http://www.intermedia.net/resellers.asp

Either in house or outsourced, the most importan thing is efficiency and the quality of the support provided.
