What's the fastest way to grow a directory ?

(instead of populating it myself)

I'm willing to invest some $ on it

Quickest way is to let webmasters know of it's existence. You can do that by finding directory lists and requesting to be put on them, and by going to webmaster forums like this one and advertising them.

You can do a search on Google for directory list. Plus there are a few floating around iwebtool in the forums somewhere, do a search here too. I don't know of any specifically, but there are people on digital points forums that maintain some pretty good lists.

Post it in forums, add it to directory lists like directorycritic, and then set regular links free, fast approval, less rejection, under these cases, webmasters will like it and come to register on your directory. Also offer cheap price for featured links.

Hi All,

I run a website called www.sydneybusinessdirectory.net and have found a great topsite list of directories.

The only catch is that you have to link to their website from yours to get a link.
The more visitors you send to them the more visitors you will receive.
The front page if you can get on there has a pr of 6.

For more info go to my website www.sydneybusinessdirectory.net and click on the Top Directories click to rate link.

The first page of this site receives about 1000 hits a day and i do receive quite a bit of traffic from this website even being on page 2. (pr 4)

This is definently a great starting point for any directory.
Instant pr and traffic.

What do you want first ? A lot of traffic or a large directory ?
Maybe we can help... Our directory grows monthly with +/- 2000 sites all email confirmed and checked.

Our www.2space.net has a Google PR5 and an Alexa Rank of +/- 30.000 this means up to 15.000 daily page views.
