Yes article writing can boost your traffic. I just want to highlight few things in article submissions. Article directories have few rules that need to be obeyed.

Here are some of the rules which I've come accrossed during my work
1. They will not simply accept any kind of article. Please read the content guidelines. Contact the webmaster directly if you want a firm confirmation. I've contacted few webmasters and amazingly some of them did reply and appreciate d me for asking first before submission

2. They not guarantee to accept submission. No guarantee given but a try is always worthwhile.

3. Correct Grammar!! lol this is my weakness since I'm not an english native speaker. You can hire an editor to make sure your article is in correct grammar.
