Default Google Sandbox Effect

What exactly is the Google Sandbox Effect?

Different extracts from different forums/websites. Check them out

Quote:
There is a large amount of discussion on this topic given the name, "sand boxing". It appears that Google is holding out on new domain names for a 2 - 4 month period of time. So a new domain name might rank very well a few weeks after the site is launched, but soon after it will get bumped down in the results for a 2 - 4 mont period for no apparent reason.

Quote:
Some programmers have viewed Google as uncomfortable to rank newer websites until they have proven their viability to exist for more than a period of "x" months.

Quote:
The existence of a new-site "sandbox" (which delays the site being ranked well for months) has been a topic of debate among SEOs.

Quote:
What I don't understand is why Google don't just come clean. We all know that it exists so what's the point in continuing to deny it?

Quote:
These sites are not ranking even for really really non competitive keyword phrases.

The whole existence of the sandbox sure is debatable.

Google will keep denying but I think whether it's just an effect of their filters, or the sandbox really exists, most (if not all) the sites are affected.

Matt Cutts has said there is no actual sandbox. When investigating claims of people being sandboxed, it turns out it is the side-effect of other filters. There is no newness filter though, that automatically puts new sites in a sandbox.

Personally I think it has to do with aggressive link building on a new site. Be it by number, type and quality, something is setting off google.

yes...i agree with Aiden. I think it's with over agressive, seen as "fake" link building.

If that was the case, youtube would be banned.
