Different Backlink Results

Can anyone offer an explanation why the backlink results are not consistent? In various backlink checker tools (including the one on the iwebtool site) I get a 0 results from google. Now here's the confusion if I enter for my domain "link:www.ahbsolutions.co.uk" I get 0, but if I enter "link:<space>www.ahbsolutions.co.uk" I get 35. Similarly st MSN (or live.com) domain "link:www.ahbsolutions.co.uk" I get 9, but if I enter "link:<space>www.ahbsolutions.co.uk" I get 1 which was not previously listed.

Has anybody any suggestions why this could be? Are these legitimate, or inconsistencies in the searh engine?

I'm not sure, but the same holds true if you use the site: directive with a space directly after it. If it happens across different search engines, then perhaps it isn't an inconsistency, but a hidden tool. I don't know, but I'll look to see if I can find anything on it.

Yeah

I've just tried using the site: directive on Google, leaving out the space returns my site only, including the space returns some of my pages, plus sites linking to me, and it looks like the same as the link: directive with a space included.

Google are not updating the backlinks too often..only once in a month or even three months.
Above that, google doesn't count as backlink every inbound link, links from poor, not cached, directories, free for all pages, even reciprocical links are not counted, or there is a big lag untill they show up.

But MSN show any link very quick, even after a day or two, it is very fast but that doesn't mean the link will count too much even if it is there.

If you put a space between the link: and your site name then the link: command is not working and instead google will return normal results ,
Notice here
...the link word is bolded which means it is considered in search, therefore the results are websites cached by google where your site name is mentioned and the word "link" or "links" is mentioned also.
Same does MSN.
If you want to check your backlinks DONT put any space between link: and your site name.
