Hi

I have a website and i recently started exchanging alot of links with other similar content site. When i give site (A) a link from my links page and site (A) gives me a link from their link page is this bad if it done alot? Do they cancel each other out?

You should try some 3-way exchanges.. People say Google doesn't count too much for link exchange (Site A -> Site B and Site B -> Site A)..

3 way should do better: Site A -> Site B -> Site C

Somebody said one way link is better for pr, and that's why so many people keep submitting their websites to directories. However, except directories (including article directories), there are only few sites will offer your free one way links. So exchanging links with others is another option. Anyway it will not harm your website.

It is better to have network linking. Search engines will develop algo for searching for 3 Way linking. It is difficult to create algo to check linking for network. So it is the safest method for going.

I will try to share what I know in this matter.

First
We need to know the basic idea. every marketing strategies have one aim which is VISIBILITY to the webstes. So, how do want to get your site be visible? It depends. You can do anything that come across your mind to get recognition.

Linking is one of the methods. Your sites will be visible to others when there are many links from other sites. Visitors will be direct to your sites via the links. Another question will pop up - how do you want to get the links attract visiotros? Once again use your creativity.

So I guess this is the basic idea. The fraction of each methods should be analyze and please ask the experts to reduce cost, time and effort.

many people will say that its not good or its not working, but it really does work...if you exchange link with site A- which rank is higher then yours, you automaticly gaining a link popularity from that site, but that site is loosing his link popularity by linking o you, but its not the only thing, it really would be healthy to have links from low page rank websites, just a few of them so search engines may not think that you are spaming
