![]() | What linking strategies do you primarily employ to get your sites good rankings? I think it is common knowledge that Google loves a lot of backlinks. Unfortunately, it seems that acquiring links in a fast manner can trigger a penalty that keeps you from indexing properly. When I first started in this game I would go out and submit to a lot of directories and anywhere I could to get my site listed. This strategy was fairly effective with MSN, not effective at all with Google and hit and miss with Yahoo!. Since then I have taken a much more mild approach to links and I focus on trading links or acquiring links from relevant sites in a particular niche. Quality over quantity, and not really focused on submitting to generalized directories and such at all. I am also beginning to play a bit with more keyword variation. I think early on I used only a handful of variations and this was also a problem. I am working on creating mostly unique anchor text for all the links I create now. Any other thoughts or ideas for good quality link building strategies? |

![]() | I think few links from very high ranking sites would be enough. |

![]() | Easier said then done though. Getting links from more established and higher PR sites is usually more difficult than a slew of links from a bunch of lower tier sites. On top of that Google has clearly established that they are completely discounting the value of paid backlinks and you take a big risk if you go out and try to pay for those high PR links. I think this will only get worse as Google gets even more information. So in order to make sure those high links count you have to resort to luck, it seems. So any suggestions on getting those high value links beyond buying them would be appreciated. |

| iWEBTOOL Staff | I buy as many high ranked links as possible. Google can't really tell if you purchase a link via a PM . Also find sites that offer free listings and already have a high PR. Such as http://www.cssreboot.com |

Most definately true, but they seem to be adding to their list all the time, and it doesn't take much for them to uncover sold links. That cssreboot site is interesting. What is the goal and purpose of it? | |

| iWEBTOOL Staff | The purpose of CSSreboot is to show off designs made in CSS. But any site is pretty much coded in CSS, so it is just a free listing on a PR7 site. |
