Question Regarding PR7 and PR8 sites

Hello I was wondering how would it take for my PR to go up if I place a link on a site that has this type of PR? will one link be sufficient or would I need more?

KInd Regards

There are a lot of factors involved. No one other than Google knows for sure. Here is the breakdown:
Google updates there toolbar PR once every 3 months or so. They update the actual PR very often, you just don't know it until the toolbar update. The next time Google updates the toolbar PR will probably be around the beginning of January. To increase in PR, you need to have IBL's(in bound links). If you get one good link, then that should help a little, but you should never stop at just one.

Hello and thanks for the reply...

So for example if I get a couple of HIGH PR back links now it should help for January or whenever they do the next update? or I'm too late?

Kind Regards

the update constantly happens, differnet spiders calculate your page rank at different times, although the tool bar might not show it, your site may already in-affect be operating at the same page rank as it is when it up dates

This should help to some extend to understand how google calculates PR - http://www.webworkshop.net/pagerank_calculator.php

If you get a couple of high PR links it might help you. But it depends on the site. How many links are there on the page that your link appears on? What position in the HTML does your page occur(not on the displayed page)? Is there a nofollow attribute added to your link?

In many cases, it could possibly benifit you more to get 150 or 200 PR0 links than 4 or 5 PR8 or 9 links. For example, w3.org sells links for $1000.00, but places the nofollow attribute on all of their links, making the link, as far as SEO goes, worthless.

Just so you know, having a high PR will not increase your traffic. If you have 1 or 2 IBL's from high PR sites, then what ever keyphrases you are targeting will not experience much change in the SERP's(search engine results position), especially if those sites are not relevant to the content that your site offers. It would be more beneficial to get IBL's from sites that are similar to yours in content than it would to get links from higher PR sites. If you are considering purchasing text links on high PR sites, then I urge you to reconsider. High PR sites charge a lot of money for links and you could accomplish the same thing for a lot less money, plus get higher in the SERP's.

There are members here at iwebtool that would submit your site to hundreds or thousands of directories ranging from PR0 to PR7, and they only charge a small fee for this service. Or, if you have the time, you can do it yourself.

My best advice to you would be for you to hit the search engines, and find websites that are similar to yours and request them to add your link to their site. Some of them may require a reciprocal link, but not all of them do. Ignore the PR of other sites, get links anywhere you can, afterall, a link is a link, and any single one of them could help drive more traffic to your site.

Edit: If this post was helpful, don't forget to leave me a positive rep

Definitely the pr7 or pr8 will help you in your pr. But that's not enough, you shall keep your working and try to get as more backlinks as possible. Only one or two will not help you too much.

Just so you know,, links are good, but a good site is better,

Just for a prime example,, a site that is P/R 5 = next to no content, a new site, is "unique" and only 2 google search results and,,,, NO LINKS

http://www.graphicsdir.com/

this site has good clean code, nothing fancy, and the URL matches to "limited" content, and has a great start to getting a p/r 6-7
imagin google bot as a person,, Treat it with respect, and of course admire its intelligence,

I havent recieved a pagerank yet for my new site,,so im only blowing my own bubbles , but if you look at the url above,, it really speaks louder than any words, You dont need a single link to get a great site and great pagerank

make sure you hand submit to the major search engines,
and have a good clean "unique" site with good code, and your away

i just past 10000 links in, after a month of link building, it will only "help my P/R, not make it,

kindest regards
Phillip

Make sure to read googles own explaination about the PR ranks. Look in their forum as well.
