![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What techniques do you use to improve your rankings in the search engines? I find sites that are similar to mine and email them requesting a link on their site. If they link to me great, if they want a link back, fine, if not, that's okay too. I also submit my site to hundreds and even thousands of free internet web directories. I never pay for a link on a directory, they are typically to short lived to make it worth my while. I do some preliminary keyword research using keyword trend sites(not Google). I try to loosely base my anchor text around a select group of keyphrases. After my site has been indexed and people are finding my site, I look to see how they are locating me, and then shift my keyphrases to reflect that trend. For instance: Initially, I targeted "official lost", "unofficial lost", "lost forum", "lost forums", "official lost forum/s", "unofficial lost forum/s". Now that it's been about a month, I see that the biggest keyphrases that get clicked on are "lost forum" and "official lost site", so I have changed my anchor text to reflect this trend. I post in forums that relate to the type of website that I am promoting, but stay away from forums that do not allow you to link to your site. Approximately 80% of my traffic comes from search engines, the other 20% from inbound links, most of which are forums. I optimize my ads in much the same way. I use channels to enable my ability to follow click trends, and have found that more clicks come from poorly placed text ads than do clicks from banners in hot spots. Not to mention that more money is paid out for text ads(in my case). So what techniques do you use to optimize for SEO/SEM? |

![]() ![]() | My SEO strategy is "don't have an SEO strategy". I find making a quality, honest, trustworthy site means people keep coming back, tell thier friends about it and link to it. If people concentrated 20% more on the quality of thier site they could completely forget about SEO.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Not that I disagree with you, it's just that I have never heard of a successful company say, "hey, lets forget about marketing, and just concentrate on customer service, that's where we'll get them." I know that you didn't say nor imply that, but to extend my question a bit further, what are your marketing strategies? Albeit, they don't have anything to do with search engines. Every successful company has to have a market and a marketing plan, so what is yours? What is it that attracts people, tells people that you are there? What keeps them coming back? What makes any company in the ever expanding competitive world unique? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, My personal strategy is..."DON'T BE STUPID, IF YOU WOULDN'T DO IT, WHY WOULD THEY?" What I mean by this is, if you wouldn't type this really long URL, then why would someone else, or if you wouldn't sign up for this forum, why would someone else. You get what I am saying. I rely on the basis, of experience. If I wouldn't do it, they no one else will. And it has worked for me for years. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | First of all i focus on off page factors. Beside providing valuable content for visitors i need to get high rankink in SEs. I use some basic principles: -place the javascript code into external js file, -use css instead of tables, -using the 2 most important site relevant keywords in the meta tags especially in the <title> tag, -using keywords in external and internal links, -i put the first sentence (2-4 words, containing the most important keywors) into <h1> like this <h1><a href="/sitename.html">sentence containing keywords</a></h1> -place keywords at least 5 times in the content beside taking care of that the keyword density is under 2%. -i usually use <h2>, <h3> tags containing 1-2 keyword. Than come the off-page factors: I gather as many content relevant high ranked inbound links as i can.

![]() | People say exchanging links with same-niche sites is good for a good positioning.. BUT, is there any problem to exchange links with sites in other language than yours ? |

Hi lordcage, No matters what the language of website you are exchanging link with. if the website is of same niche and you are getting a backlink from the site with your relevant keywords (place the most appropriate keyword in the anchor tag), it will definitely help you to get good results. ![]() | Try a lot of different things. Some will work better than others. Just don't do anything that could get you banned (ie. black hat seo practices).
