 |  I've just uploaded a sitemap (10.000 pages), for a news site. Is it possible to "ask" google to crawl your site right now? The last crawling was on Nov 2nd.. In my sitemap, update frequency is "hourly".. Sorry, change freq is "daily" , not "hourly".. Just one thing.. I'm verifying the log files, and GoogleBot IS crawling my site, but it gets only 1 page every 3 minutes.. In sitemaps I have the option to speed it up, but it's currently disabled. Any tips? I first submitted to sitemap on 1st Nov, now looking at the bot logs it isn't working to the submitted list, but doing links which it has found and are relatively pointless. So one week is not enough, not sure when it will decide to make use of the sitemap.

| Re: Ask google to crawl now guys give the BOT some time to do its task  In the table of sitemap at google webmaster tools, last column shows the number of links google has checked from that sitemap and it doesnot shoot up in one day it takes time Also, I have noticed a property of GoogleBOT on my site that it follows the path of the visitors on the site Also in the webmaster tools there is new crawl rate link which shows the amount of crawling google has done on your site When I started using webmaster tools initial month was not so useful (thats what I thought) but with time my searhc engine listings and google crawling on my site has increased Infact GoogleBot is permanent resident of my site now

| Re: Ask google to crawl now Googlebot started doing my sitemap listed URL two hours ago!  Interestingly it seems to be doing those URL's that are the shortest in length first. I'm happy anyway!

| Re: Ask google to crawl now I had a weird thing happen with google. It has indexed a lot of links to my new site- but not the url itself. Google works in strange and mysterious ways....lol
