Well, I'm glad Saddam is being hanged. He deserves it. But, I might say it's a bit too merciful.

Took them a while to get to that. Hanging them might be too merciful like chulium said. Iraqi jails are no motels like the US so let them rot in there.

Unfortunately, hanging in the US involves a quick process

For most convicts that would be good, but I want me and Saddam in a room alone - and let me take 'im.

1. I don't think laws on punishment still have hanging 2. Correct me if I'm wrong but Iraq was hosting the trials.

Death Penalty is merciful anyway, it is like suicide - it is the easy way out. Putting him prison for the rest of his life would do him a lot worse of a punishment.

But...there are disadvantages of prison. He is such a big political leader that people would either try to hurt him, kill him or escape him.

You do understand how much hate this will cause, and there will be another war in Iraq, Saddam's followers are going to go wild.

Death is scarey and unknown, where as prison, as bad as it may be.. atleast we know what it is (my jail time consists of 3 hours for not carrying identification.. but my husband spent a few years in prison, and when he feels like talking about it, it really doesnt sound to bad (in the US)).

Religious views also surely take a big part in this... in many peoples minds, repent (ask for forgiveness) and you're good to go.. to heaven that is..

Others believe he is surely going to hell.. in which case, I'll take the worst of prisons please.

Others don't believe in either..

At any rate, I'm sure that has a lot to do with the choice made were we so lucky as to get the choice. In Sadaams case however, I think I'd go out praying, and choose death.
