![]() | You'll note a common theme in a lot of my postings (I like a drink !) This is normally only a problem with ill-considered purchases on ebay. Friday night however I made the grave mistake of trying to install IE 7.0 on my Sunday best machine. It crashes constantly and i can't de-install or even run Firefox installer. I can access web-mail through Outlook, but not my precious hotmail. Seems to be IE not seeing my connection but everything else seems fine. I'm thinking i may have a spyware infection too, but can't get online to do a scan. I have tons of goodies on this machine and to back-up would be a major hassle though i do have some spare HDs kicking about. Any clever ideas how to get back up and running gratefully received. Help !! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I heard that the so called stable release was filled with bugs and was being hacked on it's first day out. My advice.....don't ever ever ever ever try to use IE again, there's really no point when great programs are out there like Firefox and Opera. I just installed FF 2.0, and other than a minor bug, it has been great. I would still suggest you stay with FF 1.5 for the time being, but anything is better than IE. Okay, here's a clever idea. Restore your computer....Only if you want to get rid of IE, you have to also get rid of windows, and that's a bit more difficult. Well, restore your computer, and install FF or Opera, and dont' ever run IE, and don't ever upgrade(down?) to IE7. You do that, and you should be fine. |

![]() | If you're using XP try and do a rollback to right before you installed IE7. I think it creates a restore point like most MS software before it installs. You could also get an uninstaller program like McAffee uninstaller to remove it. I started testing IE 7 last week for rollout in my department. I like what I see so far but some of the 3rd party plugins we need don't function with it as yet so we're holding off for now. I'm currently using both FF 2.0 and IE 7 simultaneously to check the differences in page rendering. Al, I would recommend you try and install Windows Defender and run a scan on your machine. Get it to the point where you can install windows updates and make sure your virus definitions are up to date. PM me if you need more help. I'm a system admin for a state university in Florida so I work on both client and server machines all day. I might be able to help you out if I know more specifics.

![]() | Thanks guys. I successfully restored IE 6.0 and have also loaded up FF. I am now in the process of loading Defender. Thanks for your feedback |
