Hi there,

I was wondering how people have text messaging services on there websites. Is it free to run? How do I get it? Is there a script I need?

I basically want to know everything I need to know how to get started with this service. Please can somebody help as I am really interested in starting this on my website.

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

Go to www.w3schools.com/dotnetmobile/default.asp

That should tell you what you need to know.

Hi there,

Thanks, but I don't think that is what I meant, I think that is for running mobile sites. And secondly I couldn't run that anyway as I use a Linux server and I don't think .Net application are executable on a Linux server.

I need to run my own SMS service from my website, I need to know how to do it, does anyone know how???

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

I am also working on such a service. I will keep you updated. We always make excellent partners.

Here's what I got so far... http://teamforbidden.atspace.com/Txt.html Should we buy a domain, and change the template up a bit?

Sorry, but this service will be for my own company, and I don't want to resell, I would like it as an individual service running from my own server.

But if I get the information specifiaction etc, I will open a concurrent service with you aswell.

In some cases you can just send the SMS via email to a phone number. But sometimes that doesn't work, and you'll need to know the network, in which case you can send the SMS via the phonenumber@network.com. But for that to work, you'll need to know the network that the phone is on. There are SMS Gateways, which are paid services that allow you to send SMS's from a website to any SMS enabled phone for a price.

Look up SMSC gateway to find a service that will allow you to do this.

You have to pay for a service unless you know how to interact with the specific framework of cellular devices. I saw an article on Microsoft Developer once, and it was over my head.

Yeah, I spent several hours last night looking into a stand alone for your website. They will make you pay a small fee per sms. But if you have hundreds or even thousands it will give you a lower rate. Good Luck!
