![]() | I think this site iWebTool is great. You are helping me find a problem I didn't even know I had. I was always confused why I could never find my site in Google when I typed in one of my main keywords. Your Spider View option under Search Engines showed this to me. Now how do I fix it? I enter in, on Spider View in iWebTool, one of my main keywords which is women's self defense. Then I press the View/Check! button and can see my keyword as it just happens to be the first words listed, but it doesn't get found by the spider. A little history: I am using FrontPage 2003 for my coding. Everything looks okay, the site is live and I don't see any obvious problems. However, in the FrontPage program when I am in the Code View I right mouse click and select Reformat HTML from the list. That is where, I believe my problem starts. My keyword women's self defense changes to women ': s (without the spaces, need the spaces so you could see it as it got changed to where it looked normal when I clicked the Preview Post button) self defense and the spiders can't find the correct keyword. Now I manually correct everyone of the funny characters and replace it with the right one and upload the site. The problem is still there even though the text looks correct. As I said earlier, in the Spider View of iWebTool, searching for my keyword women's self defense I can see it listed properly but it doesn't get found. Then when I enter it as women ': s self defense the Spider finds it even though it is displayed as women's self defense. The problem is when people enter in the search correctly as women's self defense the Spider doesn't find it as the search doesn't have the funny characters in it. I read somewhere that MicroSoft Word needs to have the "smart quotes" in the AutoCorrect turned off as it can create just the problem I have. I did that and still have the problem. I couldn't find any such choice in the FrontPage 2003 program options. This is driving me nuts and is affecting my search results with Google. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks in advance. |

![]() | Can't you just remove the ' symbol? |

![]() | Thank's for your reply. Removing the ' symbol changes the tense of the search from women's to women. And yes I can just remove the symbol but that doesn't solve the problem or answer the question. I use FrontPage 2003 and when I am in 'Code View', I right mouse click and 'Reformat HTML' on the sheet and it changes all the ' symbols to & # 39;. I understand that & # 39; (without the spaces) is the HTML 7-bit ASCII Reference symbol for the apostrophe. All that appears to be working just as it should. However when I upload that page and use the 'Spider View' of iWebToos it doesn't find any women's self defense. Even though that term is the very first one in the Spider view box. When I search for women& # 39;s (without the spaces) self defense, it finds the term. Does that mean if people type the term women's self defense they have to change the apostrapy to the ASCII symbol to find it? Women's self defense and women self defense are different searches on some of the search vehicles. Does that mean you can't use an apostraphy in your search, even if it is in your code as it won't find it. I can type it either way in google, with the apostraphy or the ASCII symbol, and it finds the websites. Why doesn't it find the words in iWebTools under the Spider View? I guess that is my question. Needless to say I am a bit confused on this one. My website is: http://www.pdspersonaldefensesystems.com Try looking at it in Spider View for the term. You will see what I mean. Ken |
