Hi there,

Joomla seems to be taking the stand here . Subdreamer seems to be the best commercial one in here too.

Regards,
Kieran Taylor.

Wish I knew of that site when I was picking a CMS a few months back. I tried all that HostGator had in Fantastico and settled on Joomla. I've been more than satisfied with it so far.

Be careful with some of the newer components though. Had to redo my site a couple times from backup because some of them just wouldn't work together and messed up the pages far enough that they would take too much to repair. I did backups of everything before installing anything extra on it and only had to rebuild early on when the site was new.

I have used Mambo/Joomla a lot, but have lately switched to WordPress. Yes, I know it's primarily blogging software, but it makes a great CMS as well Should be in your list too IMHO.

I just want to say thanks for all this information. I didn't really know anything about CMS's. I decided not to look into it because I know I could not afford it anyway. Now I find out you can get very good ones for free.

Anyway, thanks.

I agree. With the recent added features in 2.1, like setting any “page” to be the front page of your site, it can function as a great CMS too.
