| Junior Member | Hi. I have had my site running for about 3 month now and i am really struggling to get it up in the rankings. It is number one for crystal glass on msn .co.uk but no where else I think it could be down to my keywords/my description and my tittle. Can anyone help me out please and please tell me where i am going wrong. Its driving me insane.here is my site. www.crystalglassfantastic.co.uk Danni |

| Senior Member | Yeah, You NEED strong inbound links to succeed. 3 months is considered as a new site also, so keep working on it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, A few things I would change for your site would be, your domain name as it is waaaaaaaaaaay too long. And secondly your webpage titles as they are not search engine friendly. Try to keep things to the minimum, and work on specific keywords as well. Try iWebTool keyword suggestion tool. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

| Member | Isn't it kind of late to change the domain name? I mean if the site is indexed at all, anywhere, changing the domain name is kinda moving backwards... I haven't ever seen this one debated though.. So I am curious, is there enough of a benefit to a domain name change to merrit moving the site? That aside, yes three months is SUPER new, one way to grab keywords is to use them as anchor text in backlinks... for instance, your siggy line here, sites like these help active members.. and one of the way they do that is by allowing us to have a siggy line... People underestimate just what a siggy line can do for ya.. Imagine if every one of your posts.. everywhere that you post.. had your URL anchored to your keywords .. That's alot of backlinks.. specially if ya talk alot like me In addition to your own siggy line, make sure your profile has your URL in it, that's another backlink, and you might also swap siggy lines with some friends ... most allow you to have as many as 4 URL's in your siggy, so you could swap with three friends, who would also add your URL and keywords to their siggy That's just ONE suggestion for improving your rankings, and grabbing some free backlinks.. however, do a few searches for "Search Engine Optimization" and see what ya come up with.. likely enough to keep you reading a few years hehehe ~LadyH

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, Changing the domain name wouldn't be moving backwards really! It only took my site 2 days before Google had it in it's index, and another 2-3 days before I was indexed by most search engines. As long as he/she makes some good backlinks in the early days of the new domain name, the search engines will crawl it instantly. Before I had my site up and running I already had backlinks in directories (including iWebTool). I had a backlink on the main forum homepage, and the SEO Checklist customers page (both on iWebTool). As long as you build quality backlinks, search engine crawls are the least of your worries, you can dedicate yourself to improving SEO more then. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

| Junior Member | No disrepect to Keiran, LadyHoldem your domain name is fine, lenght doesn't have anything to do with it in my mind, I sell thousands of them a week and some a lot longer than yours that I get indexed super fast. Your domain name actually incorporates your subject matter so if you get your site validated both CSS and HTML to wC3 standard, follow a few rules regarding page content Title, Description etc and you should be well on your way. You need to pay attention to your keywords, and have in mind your sites page content, use this in your description, alt tags and so on. All these go to speeding up indexing. Backlinks are certainly important and Kieran is right on a lot of things, but I've had sites listed on all the majors without a single backlink by simply using a few smart but simple tactics. Backlinks equal PR, indexing is all down to how well the site is optimized for the search engine, my motto on that is PageRank is for show, position for dough! Dough = $$$$ . Wish you well. |

No disrespect taken. But I never said that for ranking reasons, but who likes to type in long domains like that every time...I don't. And length does play a part in search engine listing, as search engines can class long domain names as spam. So I would watch it to an extent, although you are right it doesn't make a massive impact. But suggestions can be taken either way, he/she may be happy with that domain...I don't know .Regards, Kieran Taylor.

| Junior Member | Hi there, No offence should be taken on either side.... No-one would type in that domain name but you are missing a key concept of SEO here Kieron, people would type in Crystal Glass as that is the product they are looking for, if someone knows the site exists then they would type it in regardless of the lenght. Having the product term in the name is always good, as it would be in the url, the title, the meta's and body content. This site is not validated and good old Google does seem to take account of that. I understand your thought on spam but I've yet to see a domain name with a product in it ousted as spam because it is long. This site and its team are from Hull in the UK correct, what if there was a company called sheetmetalfrabricationsteelofhull.co.uk, would that be spam? I know the point your making but don't perhaps think its correct? Is there records/articles of Google banning long domain names anywhere, I'm always willing to learn on this, especially as I sell lots. Take care Kieron |

![]() | My one is also huge ![]() but size doesnt matter, is remberability (if thats a word) foir instnance 3z3f5k.com (6 letter name) is a lot harder To Remeber than OneTwoThreeFourFiveSix.com (22 letters) I think my site has a fairly remberarable title (ai-stockmarketforum), it also contains all of the keyword to show what the site is about as does crystalglassfantastic.co.uk obviously it has nothing to do with serp rankings, each word in the domain name accounts equilavelnt to a keyword in you body. Short names are really only important for people that type in address (without a history record) - and to tell you the truth, this doenst happen that much most people search, use history records, or bookmarks.

I disagree with this as well. I have several sites, all of which, when marketed correctly, were indexed within only a few days. If it is taking several months to get indexed by google, then something is wrong.

| Member | My first two sites, took MONTHS to get indexed, I thought it would be forever.. and even when they did get indexed, it was a page or two ... I guess you live and you learn though this newest was actually indexed before I was ready LOL.. which you can see by the great descriptions heheh.. can't wait for that to get updated Nothing like the description telling you to add a description Danni06 Do you have a google site map up yet? Those seem to help quite a bit, as well as lots and lots and lots and lots of good backlinks..
