![]() | Source: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=28531 FIRING SQUAD investigates the mistakes made by Microsoft during the production process of the Xbox 360. 11 mistakes were made by engineers and techies at Redmond according to the Firingsquad team. Ranging from Overheating of the CPU/GPU to the lack of WMV HD-DVD playback, there are indeed quite a few lackings that should have been solved even before the launch of the Xbox 360 was launched. Some of them are quite simple to mend while others will certainly require more profound modifications. A version 2.0 would be welcomed. Techpowerup was sent a test sample of the Nvidia 6800GS by Nvidia themselves. This SLI compatible part is clocked higher than the now dead 6800Ultra but features a lower number of pixel pipelines and has a lower clocked memory as well. A wonderful overclocker which combined with a near silent fan and a copper heatsink does not cost that much. Now the reference board sent is certainly not representative of what Nvidia partners will manufacture so you might expect some goodies in a near future. ITreviews tests the Sapphire X800 GTO2 graphic card which is arguably the best mid range card currently available. You can guess that this is not your usual card as it includes an additional PCI-e connector. Indeed, the X800GTO2 is based on the R480 core. Straight of the box, the card reached 4800 3Dmarks 05 and after overclocking and modding the card, it went straight to 6300, a 30% increase. Now that's some performance. Trustedreviews checks the Xerox Phaser 6120 Colour laser printer. Colour laser printers have fell in price considerably and if you are not into photography, then they might prove to be an even better option than inkjet printers. The printer has a physical printing resolution of 600x600 which can be increased via interpolation. The Phaser 6120 is geared towards business users obviously with such features like speedy printouts and relatively low printing costs. Hardwarezone tests the BenQ Joybook R53 Centrino notebook. It is the first laptop to come with a 16ms LCD panel, convenient enough for gamers. You will find the ubiquitous Centrino Trio - Pentium M, Wireless card, Chipset - coupled with a Radeon X600, not the best choice for a gamer. You also get a 80GB HDD, a DVD writer and a 15.4-inch widescreen display. Add a pair of decent speakers and two Video out ports and you get a very good reason to buy this little baby. No bluetooth or onboard media controls though. Digital-Daily reviews the ECS PF5 Extreme motherboard which comes with the i945P chipset. This high end product from low end manufacturer ECS comes with six SATA ports, HD Audio, GbE, two Firewire ports and much more. The board has more colours than a rainbow, has a nice setup and a nice performance. An average performance in an average setting. You might like the Top Hat BIOS setting which is pretty intriguing and may be useful - though not as much as the dual BIOS.
