DomainTops - Automatic Domain Appraisals

Hey guys,

I'm just finishing up some tweaks on my auto-appraisal system at www.domaintops.com - check it out.

I'm restricting its use to just iWEBTOOL members/users, so don't tell many/any people about it yet... last time it got out too early and as you see, over 5,000 domains were appraised before it was mature enough in its development to handle it.

Share some results here, if you would - ACCURATE and INACCURATE please! I don't want all good ones, I don't want all inaccurate ones shown in this thread, so please post a mixture of them.

Please NOTE: it only assesses a domain's value - not a domain and the site with it.

Feel free to appraise as many as you want but don't try to break it, or work it *too* hard. Bots are strictly forbidden, protection against them will be added soon. (Reviews/suggestions/comments appreciated. Hate mail accepted though not smiled upon.

results for www.iwebtool.com (based on dictionary words and accounting for traffic) Value - $146.00 www.linkslinky.com (same as above) RegFee www.officiallost.com (same as above) RegFee That's an interesting tool chulium. I think it may need a bit more honing, perhaps taking into account value given as a result of IBL's, and maybe SERP's or PR.

Hi there,

I did it on my domain although I have only had content on it for about 4 days now, http://www.kjcorporate.com/ = reg fee. I couldn't enter the proper data though as I haven't even had the hosting 1 month so I don't know average traffic details, and e-commerce features aren't on the site yet, so it is pretty inaccurate for me

It's a nice idea.. but I just don't trust it. I think in order for it to become really useful, you need to make it clear how you're working out the value, otherwise it's just a toy (fun though!

).

Woah, you guys are forgetting it only appraises the domain, not the site with it. Hence "domain appraisal" not "domain and site appraisal". Keep that in mind...

"KJ Corporate" for example only has worth when developed, since it's a company name. "iWEBTOOL" only has worth because of its presence on the Internet - disconnect the domain from the site and it would be worth $146

WillB: I appreciate the idea but I cannot exploit the algorithm, otherwise competition would be popping up all over the place... it's modulated throughout 3 different files and is over a thousand lines long, though, I can say that.

I get what you are saying, and indeed you are right, although traffic will be a big factor of my domains when I launch.

We're still adding advice for domains rated this high or higher, but this domain has lots of potential in development, especially if you want its value to double or triple.

Haha, funny you should say that since I fixed that bug about 3 minutes after you posted your post (11:05).

In the past revenue and traffic inputted by daily values (uniques per day, $ per day, etc) but per month is more standard. But, I forgot to take out the "times 30" parts of the algorithm to do month instead of day! All fixed.

Try now, with the same stats:

But remember that if your COMPANY makes $500/mo, this is different than the DOMAIN making $500/mo from parking or something, which is my intent for people typing traffic and revenue stats.

Perhaps not the exact algorithm, but if you want it to become more than just a toy, you need to be more open about how the amount is calculated.

If I wanted to use it when actually selling a domain, no-one would take me seriously because there's no way to justify the amount. See what I mean?

Some details in the result of the appraisal give clues as to how it's figured... you see the stats like Google results, OVT ranking, Alexa ranking (though not heavily weighed), length, hyphens, amt. deducted for each, etc...
