Default Submitting to directories

Hi folks. I'm asking, because I have heard it's good to submit to directories, but could you please tell me what traffic can I expect from free directories ? Numbers are highly appreciated (example: Category: Automotive, 20 directories/20 unique visitors).

And just to compare - what traffic I could expect from paid directories ?

What is your experience ? Thank's

You will not get any reasonable amount of traffic from web directories (maybe except DMOZ and BoW).

They are intended to give some SE exposure, that's all.

To get more backlinks to your site, so you appear higher in search engines. Plus, sites with a higher PR can sell links for higher prices

I spent today submitting my blog to 27 medium to high PR blog directories, in an attempt to raise my rubbish PR1.

Hey,

I'm fairly new to link building strategies. Does anyone know some goods sites that I could submit my URL to in order to raise my google rating? Or any good directories...

If anyone is interested, I'm also looking for people to swap links with.

Thanks...

There are tons of lists of directories and such along with PR on the various webmaster forums around the net. I would list them, but it's a bit rude to iWebTool, so I will suggest searching the web instead.

Hi this link will get you all the best directories in order from highest PR to lowest,, there are over 250,, and it takes about 1/2 a day to do all the free ones by hand,
http://www.seocompany.ca/directory/free-web-directories.html?sort=prup

if you do them all, you will get a PR 3-4,, so it is worth the effort,,

i have some other great PR tools on my new site under promotion and marketing,

my new site ranked No1 on google search without any pagerank, traffic or content,, so dont belive everything you hear,, your URl is No1 to search engines,, nothing else is worth as much, so make sure it is relevent and matches what your trying to sell, promote, inform,

Kindest regards
Phillip

No-one can do it for you! You have to do it yourself, ha ha ha.

Start by increasing the number of backlinks to your site, by submitting to directories as mentioned above. Then submit plenty of articles to article sites, and maybe even a couple of press releases.

Interesting thread with all sorts of different sides to directories, page rankings and the like.

Yes it is most certainly possible to be on the front page of Google without a page rank, we see it all the time. And yes, directories and the like are intended to provide backlinks to your website - hence why wouldn't you submit?

The "problem" comes by not being able to start and maintain a constant schedule for using these methods. Gaining the foothold and keeping it are two different animals.

Outsourcing is the name of the game when you find yourself with too much to do, and not enough hours, days, months in the year to accomplish your goals

I can state one example since you asked for proof. By using direct natural methods, we have a site that has gone from 48 links to over 4000 links in a little over 15 days. And each of these links has been NATURALLY created (one way) to PR 3 and above websites. No black hat methods at all, just hard work efficiently accomplished.

Using the tools here at iwebtool show his site will go from a PR0 to a PR4 - with an 87.1% certainty. Just getting a PR1 for a month old site was our initial goal so hopping past the first levels is icing on the cake

Yep, not bad for less than a month's worth of outsourcing services. My suggestion... don't try to do everything yourself. The talk is all over the web about outsourcing

All the best,
Theresa
